The annual Queensland Major Projects Pipeline Report is a joint initiative between QMCA and IAQ to provide a definitive guide to major construction works planned for the upcoming five years.
Struber was engaged by QMCA and IAQ to design and support the writing of a printed summary and comprehensive digital report, with a stronger focus on its digital presence to improve the report’s ongoing relevance and accessibility for its audience.
The digital-first production approach ensured the report could be easily maintained, built upon, updated and accessed throughout the year, providing QMCA and IAQ members with a reliable source of truth to reference.
Struber’s approach was to develop a brand, language and visual direction that was better suited to a digital platform and displaying large volumes of data, including on mobile devices. The addition of a live database that could generate reports ensured the report would have ongoing relevance to the audience.
Struber developed and delivered a new design and branding direction, and in partnership with 13Digital delivered the digital platform. Struber’s key tactics included:
• Identifying a bold graphic to represent the theme ‘Sustainability’ that was integrated across all print and digital assets
• Delivering a shifted colour palette, two-typeface system and augmented-fourth hierarchy system to improve contrast and readability of content on screens
• Developing bold infographics and iconography to clearly illustrate key findings – with impact
• Improving navigation and user flow by stripping away distractions to improve speed, creating mini summaries, simplifying links, and easy to use downloadable tools
• Supporting report launch, reverting to a live-stream update with two days following the introduction of COVID-19 restrictions
The digital report launch was a huge success and saw large growth over the previous year with:
• 10x increase in day-one use
• 598% increase in users navigating beyond the first page to learn more
• 431% increase in sustained use for the first month
• More than 200 attendees at the live stream launch
