GHD engaged Struber to design and build an online portal of GHD’s AquaLAB projects so internal and external teams could contribute to and navigate key case studies for marketing and lessons learnt purposes.
AquaLAB is GHD Digital’s innovation program for the water industry, created to foster the development of leading-edge digital solutions for challenges facing the water industry now and into the future.
GHD engaged Struber to design and build an online portal of AquaLAB projects so internal and external teams could contribute to and navigate key case studies for marketing and lessons learnt purposes.
GHD’s ambition was to base the primary website function around an innovative, scalable, and secure solution that simplified submitting, editing, and searching the project database.
Struber’s approach was to identify the most effective but minimal number of website plug-ins to achieve the website’s required performance and security.
Our approach also enabled case study submissions from a central, front-end location that could be stored, edited, resumed and updated, delivering an easy-to-use website for those contributing, while also achieving a complex, searchable database that was also WCAG 2.0 (accessible) compliant.
The primary tools Struber implemented were WordPress, Advanced Custom Fields, BeTheme, and scrollify.js. This created a central hub to submit, approve, view, and download content as needed – including straight to PDF to provide to potential clients or within tender documents.
The two-way submission form was an innovative, two-way form to ensure ease-of-use for contributors and reviewers, challenging the one-way submission form that is commonly used for websites. The entire website was also WCAG 2.0 compliant at the click of the button, achieving an increased contrast function.
Struber also developed the overall look-and-feel of the website that encompassed the GHD Digital brand, while also aligning with the innovative approach of the projects.
Struber developed a transformative, complex, and online tool that had easy-to-use features for contributors to maximise the usage and take-up.
It delivered a streamlined and direct process to collate and share innovative case studies for both internal and external functions.
Most importantly, the AquaLAB website created a new, innovative and fresh hub that is fitting of the leading-edge, digital solutions showcased within the hub.
