Success Factors
Isaac Regional Council engaged Struber to deliver a region-wide community engagement program to inform how Council should manage the flying foxes that migrate annually to camp in local towns.
Struber’s multi-faceted engagement approach included pop-up sessions, traditional engagement and social media to maximise the campaign’s reach. This was supported by key messaging and information videos to explain the flying fox challenge. The multi-faceted approach encouraged community feedback that could help shape a new Council policy for managing flying foxes when they disrupt communities.
Struber:
Despite the physical distance between the Struber office in Brisbane and Isaac Regional Council’s office in Moranbah, Struber established a close working relationship with Council. Struber ensured consultation materials were produced, approached and launched to the agreed timeframes. The Isaac community provided over 150 comments via surveys and infoshare sessions, which Struber reviewed and provided recommendations to shape the policy on managing flying foxes.
