Intersection upgrade project as part of the $160m road network improvement program for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Struber were engaged to develop and deliver a communications and engagement strategy for the project. During inception and early planning stages, our Engagement Taskforce established a detailed action plan to guide community, media and political interactions with the project. Careful consideration was given to impacts for road users due to Ross Street being an arterial road with high traffic flows during peak commute times.
- Identified traditional and progressive channels to effectively engage local residents and road users
- Created awareness of the project, including potential impacts
- Developed a coordinated approach with other road upgrade projects occurring simultaneously throughout the Gold Coast.
Struber utilised various community channels to target different cross-sections of the community and ensure relevant information was being disseminated in a timely and effective manner.
Due to construction fatigue from impacted residents and businesses, strategic and compassionate engagement was critical to the success of the project. Our Struber Taskforce successfully negotiated with impacted stakeholders and effectively managed sensitive relationships and expectations to create positive outcomes for the client and assist in delivering a legacy project for the Commonwealth Games and Gold Coast.
