After 27 years as a Broadbeach landmark, the 12 metre high monorail track between The Oasis Shopping Centre and The Star Casino was deconstructed. Struber partnered with Delta Group to facilitate communication with major stakeholders during the fast-paced deconstruction process.

STR
strategy

Struber developed a communication and engagement methodology to understand the concerns from key stakeholders and ensure they were acknowledged and addressed where possible by the project team.

STR
tactics

Struber delivered:

  • A stakeholder workshop addressing community concerns
  • A daily briefing process and report incorporating the previous night’s progress and associated stakeholder issues for the 15 days of deconstruction
  • A timelapse video capturing the deconstruction process
  • Notification to impacted businesses regarding night works

Struber also developed partnerships with the local council to refurbish parklands with deconstructed elements; and with rail enthusiasts to repurpose rail cars.

STR
results

Thanks to Struber’s comprehensive communications and engagement strategy, the monorail was removed with zero complaints received by the project team.
