The $1.3 billion Gold Coast Light Rail Stage One is a 13-kilometre, 16 station urban transport corridor, connecting Southport and Broadbeach.

STR
strategy

Struber were engaged by GoldLinQ to manage the stakeholder engagement interfaces and event plan to support a safe and successful opening in July 2014. The first day of operations was attended by 80,000 community members and international media.
As a condition of practical completion, the State Government required McConnell Dowell Constructors to complete private property works, including reinstatement works, within six months of operations commencing. Struber supported the delivery team to achieve a staged completion of this scope to ensure landowner agreements were met by the deadline.

STR
tactics

Struber developed a construction close-out program and deployed resources, following the project’s demobilisation, to:

  • Notify affected residents of out of hours works and manage impact mitigations
  • Deliver weekly project updates, including advertising and social media
  • Negotiate access and document stakeholder sign-off
  • Coordinate activities with the operating rail and bus network
STR
results

During the completion of the Stage One project, Struber fulfilled almost 80 complex reinstatement agreements, achieved 100% satisfaction in documented property works from stakeholders, managed various complex transport network interfaces across the corridor, and minimised complaints to upkeep the positive reputation of the project.
