Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 1 is a 13 kilometre route from the Gold Coast University Hospital to Broadbeach South, designed to deliver a modern public transport solution for the Gold Coast.

STR
strategy

Struber were engaged to plan, coordinate and deliver the communications and engagement program for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 1.
The Struber Engagement taskforce provided in-house support to inform residents and businesses of construction impacts and give them the opportunity to provide feedback to ensure practical outcomes were achieved.

STR
tactics

Struber:

  • Blended traditional advertising with a social media campaign, postal notifications and stakeholder meetings to disseminate information
  • Closely managed sensitive issues surrounding temporary road closures, public transport changes, waste collection, parking access and security changes.

This robust community engagement approach minimised the number of complaints received, and general feedback from the local business community supported the expedited construction methodologies.

STR
results

Working closely with the local community, government and industry partners allowed Struber to develop and maintain working relationships and achieve strong project outcomes. An accelerated work program resulted in impacts to local trade being minimised and G:Link services operating ahead of schedule. Struber also delivered a strategy to facilitate the safe and successful launch event attended by 80,000 community members and receiving international media coverage.
