In challenging times, businesses are forced to challenge the norm and create opportunities in the midst of a crisis. And as Winston Churchill said:
“Never waste a good crisis”.
All organisations and projects without a clear definition or credibility should act now to become responsible citizens. People are getting rid of old life’s baggage and only keeping relationships and possessions that are important to them.
If people do not understand what your relationship is with the community, now is the time to make bets on stakeholders and build your citizenship. You have a rare opportunity to reset relationships and create new connections. You need to move to a relationship level where you can confidently say:
“I know my stakeholders, and they know me.”
You need to take the guesswork out of citizenship through these three steps:
Post-crisis you need to be there to power up the community, so these groups are the force of support for joint success, and advocacy. Rather than a force of divide and negative opinion or even emotional activism.
There is only one small window left to get underway with your repositioning.
So, how will your citizenship remember you?
Do not waste this crisis…
